ATAL Tinkering Lab (Science Club)
The Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) at RGIPS is a dedicated innovation and learning space established under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, Government of India. As part of the Government’s flagship initiative to promote innovation in schools, the ATL provides students with a collaborative environment where they can explore, experiment, design, and create innovative solutions to real-world challenges. It aims to foster a scientific temperament, encourage curiosity, and inspire students to become future-ready innovators.
- AIM establishes ATLs in schools across the country with a vision to “Cultivate one Million children in India as Neoteric Innovators.”
- The chief objective of establishing ATLs is to promote curiosity, imagination, and creativity in the minds of school-going children.

An Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) is a dedicated workspace established in schools across India by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog to cultivate an innovative mindset among school students. The initiative encourages young minds to move beyond conventional classroom learning by providing access to advanced tools, equipment, and emerging technologies that promote hands-on, experiential education.
At RGIPS, the ATL provides students with opportunities to work on projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through practical learning and innovation. Students gain exposure to robotics, electronics, coding, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), 3D design and printing, physical computing, and digital fabrication, enabling them to transform creative ideas into working prototypes and practical solutions.
The lab nurtures design thinking, computational thinking, adaptive learning, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurship. Through workshops, innovation challenges, exhibitions, hackathons, and mentorship programmes, students develop confidence, leadership skills, and the ability to solve complex problems while working effectively in teams.
By integrating innovation with education, the ATL at RGIPS empowers students to become independent thinkers, responsible innovators, and lifelong learners. It equips them with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and entrepreneurial mindset required to excel in higher education, research, emerging technologies, and the rapidly evolving global landscape.
